Grounded in science, open to the whole person

What you will find here

Popular science about the body, the brain and what the evidence can actually say about both. Written by someone who trained in the lab and still reads the studies before telling you anything.

Where to start

One book is out and another is on the way. High sensitivity has a life of its own and lives on its own site, so you will find it linked below. The blog is where the things that do not fill a book, but deserve telling, end up.

The books are published in Spanish. A German edition of Highly Sensitive People is also available, and English editions are in preparation.

Highly Sensitive People

High sensitivity has its own site, with its books, its resources and its blog. If that is what brought you here, you will find far more there than here.

Sello editorial Zen Books

Zen Books

The imprint I publish under. Essay and popular science, with one criterion that does not change from book to book: evidence first, and a clear account of where it ends.

El Viaje del Perdón

The Journey of Forgiveness. What happens in the brain when we forgive, and what can be done with that information. Seventeen meditations included. Published in Spanish.

I write for people who want to know not only what science says, but how it knows it.

Christian Duarte

Molecular biologist. Writer and science communicator.

I am a molecular biologist. I trained in biomedicine and neuroscience, took a master’s degree in Advanced Therapies and Biotechnological Innovation, and earned a PhD in the social sciences. It is an odd mix, and it explains a good deal about how I write.

Until 2023 I was a university lecturer and researcher. Since then I have written and published on my own, under the Zen Books imprint.

What I try to do in every book is easy to say and hard to do: tell what the evidence supports, point out where it ends, and not fill the gap with promises.
